“Thank you for making a 96-year-old’s Birthday oh so special”

“This year on my birthday I received a lovely Happy Birthday greeting from Santa Dale on FB– I was so surprised that when I was sitting next to my 95-year-old momma I played it for her on my iPad. That sparked her interest. We had just finished the Hallmark marathon of Christmas movies, so Santa was fresh on her mind. I talked to her about Santa and Christmas. I played the video several more times and every time she seemed more and more interested—the smile on her face was just magical. No matter how old you are you never seem to forget Santa from your childhood.

I sent a note to Santa Dale to let him know what a wonderful surprise it was and how my mom really enjoyed watching. After some conversing with Santa Dale and some information about my mom, our family our holiday traditions and family info including a little about my Dad who had passed 2 years ago, Santa Dale took that information and created the most beautiful story and Birthday Greeting for my mom.

She received it on her Birthday and I played it for her many times—she intently listened and watched—it was amazing how Santa could reach through her dementia and health decline to speak to her heart. He recognized her special holiday traditions, children and grands and great grands and even a mention of her beloved husband and how she can speak to him through the quietness of her heart. It was just enough of everything to make her day oh so special. It made our day too as it was a wonderful to remember all the things that made Christmas special when we were growing up too. For the 9-year-old Great Grand—can I just say that his eyes were as big as saucers—could not believe that Santa showed up for grandma! Oh My Gosh was that awesome or what!
